FactAMG's second ground-up car kept the SLS's long hood and gullwing-era proportions, but swapped out the gullwing doors entirely.
The first-generation Mercedes-AMG GT was introduced in September 2014 and shown at the Paris Motor Show that October, the second sports car developed entirely in-house by AMG after the SLS. It keeps the SLS's long-bonnet fastback proportions on a shortened version of its aluminium Transaxle Spaceframe platform, but with conventional doors. A 4.0-litre M178 twin-turbo V8 in a hot-inside-V layout sits behind the front axle and drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle. Coupé (C190) and roadster (R190) were built at Sindelfingen until September 2022; the GT R and Black Series are listed separately.

The GT 63 Pro becomes Formula One's actual safety car from the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, taking over from the old Black Series.

It spawned a track-only offspring, the GT Track Series, built to mark AMG's 55th birthday and limited to 55 cars.

In November 2020 the AMG GT Black Series lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:43.616 — at the time, the fastest lap ever recorded there by any road-legal production car.

The 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix safety car ran red paint instead of silver, marking Scuderia Ferrari's 1,000th Grand Prix start.

The Celica XX, Japan's name for the A60 Supra, introduced the world's first in-car navigation computer.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
