The Kia Sonet (model code QY) is a subcompact crossover SUV built by Kia since 2020 on the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform, positioned below the Seltos and closely related to the Hyundai Venue, for emerging markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. It was previewed as the Sonet Concept in February 2020, made its global debut on 7 August 2020 and went on sale in India on 18 September 2020 as Kia's third Indian model after the Seltos and Carnival; in India it is 3,995 mm long to benefit from the sub-four-metre tax break, while export markets get longer bumpers for 4,120 mm. A facelift was unveiled on 14 December 2023 (10.25-inch touchscreen), went on sale in India on 12 January 2024 and in China in April 2024 (built by Yueda Kia and exported to Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Colombia); the Indian range has nine trims (HTE to X Line), and the Sonet 7 three-row version sold in Indonesia from April 2021 to 2022. By September 2024 it had sold more than 450,000 units in India and export markets.
