The XJ6, which replaced most of Jaguar's saloons — expanded to four separate ranges in the 1960s — carrying over the 2.8 and 4.2-litre straight-six XK engines, the Mark X's IRS and the subframe-mounted independent front suspension first seen in the 1955 Mark 1, with new anti-dive geometry. The 5.3-litre Jaguar V12 came in 1972 as the XJ12. 82,126 were produced, also as Daimler Sovereign and Double-Six.
