Revealed in 2011 and launched in Thailand in September 2011, co-developed with General Motors as a sister to the second-generation Chevrolet Colorado, on the new "i-GRIP" (Isuzu Gravity Responsive Intelligent Platform) ladder frame, 42% stronger than before, with a 3,095 mm wheelbase on all three body styles (single, Space Extra and double cab), independent double-wishbone front suspension and a "Terrain Command" knob for 2WD/4WD. Thai engines were two 2.5 L iTEQ turbodiesels (87 kW and 101 kW VGS) and a 3.0 L 4JJ1-TC VGS with 132 kW (177 hp), Euro V compliant. Europe got a 2.5 L twin-turbo with 163 PS from 2012. The 2015 facelift (RT85) replaced the 2.5 with the 1.9 L RZ4E-TC (the Blue Power engine), with a further facelift in 2017 (Bi-LED headlamps). Also the Chevrolet D-Max and T-Series (Egypt), and built in China as the JIM Ruimai.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Pickups have always struggled in crash testing — the third-gen D-Max broke that pattern, becoming the first pickup truck ever to score five stars under Euro NCAP.

The second-generation D-Max's new ladder frame, nicknamed 'i-GRIP,' is 42% stronger than the truck it replaced, with a wheelbase stretched 45mm longer across every body style.

This generation's final 2010 Super Titanium special edition packed a frontal camera normally reserved for luxury cars - a first for any pickup truck sold in Thailand.

The GMT400 split the twins for good: 1988 was the year "C/K" became Chevrolet-only badging, while GMC's version of the very same truck became the Sierra.

GMC found 10 extra horsepower in the Sierra All Terrain X's 5.3L V8 with nothing more than a performance exhaust, no other changes needed to go from 355 to 365 hp.

This Sierra kept rolling off the line for a full extra year after its replacement arrived - badged "Classic" in 2007 just to tell the two generations apart on dealer lots.

When this GMT900 Sierra launched for 2007, GM kept selling the outgoing truck alongside it, badged "Classic," so buyers could choose old or new side by side on the same lot.

Toyota showed it as the T150 until Ford sued over the likeness to the F-150, and the production truck was renamed Tundra.

A Louisiana owner put over a million miles on his 2007 Tundra in eight years; Toyota gave him a new truck and took his apart to study it.

Toyota's Texas Tundra plant sits on land bought from the state's oldest working cattle ranch, and the 1794 Edition is named for the year that ranch was founded.

Its launch colours had pun names such as "Anti-Establish Mint" and "Freudian Gilt", sent to Lee Iacocca by a friend.
