The first-generation Hyundai i10 (PA) was announced on 31 October 2007 in New Delhi, India, and produced at Hyundai's Chennai plant for the domestic and export markets, with further production in Vietnam, Malaysia (as the Inokom i10) and Indonesia. It was designed by Thomas Bürkle as a five-door hatchback on the Hyundai-Kia SA platform shared with the Kia Picanto (SA), and sold in Mexico as the Dodge i10. In India it originally came in D-Lite, Era and Magna variants with only the 1.1-litre engine, and in July 2008 Hyundai added the Sportz and Asta variants and a 1.2-litre Kappa engine; in Europe it was offered in Classic, Style, Comfort and Eco Blue versions with a 1.0-litre engine. A facelifted version launched in India in 2010 received a Kappa II engine with variable valve timing. The i10 was named "Car of the Year 2008" by several Indian automotive magazines and television channels, and the i10 concept Electric at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo led to the BlueOn electric vehicle in South Korea.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Hyundai gave the European i10 a lower roofline AND a wider body at the same time — a squatter, more planted stance versus the model it replaced.

Indonesia got its own version of this i10: the Grand i10X, a crossover-styled trim with flared fenders and two-tone wheels nobody else in the world could buy.
