FactThe H9 was built to replace the H7 but ended up bigger and pricier, based on the old 2012 Audi A6L platform.
The Hongqi H9, developed as a successor to the H7 but ending up more upmarket, based on the 2012 Audi A6L, was presented in Beijing's Great Hall of the People in January 2020 and on sale in China from that August (UAE from December 2020); a stretched H9+ with a larger chromed B-pillar followed in 2021, and a 2024 facelift lifted the range-topping engine's output and swapped its dual-clutch gearbox for an 8-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive; a 2.0-litre turbo four with 48V mild-hybrid assistance makes 185 kW (252 hp), or a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 makes 208 kW (283 hp, 2020-2024) / 248 kW (333 hp, from 2024), through a 7-speed DCT (8-speed automatic post-facelift). Wheelbase 3,060 mm (120.5 in, H9) or 3,290 mm (129.5 in, H9+), length 5,137 mm (202.2 in) or 5,337 mm (210.1 in, H9+), width 1,904 mm (75.0 in), height 1,493 mm (58.8 in), curb weight 1,875-2,100 kg (4,134-4,630 lb).
