FactGeely launched the Icon online in February 2020 because the pandemic ruled out a normal reveal.
The Geely Icon, code SX12 and called the Geely Cowboy from 2024, is a subcompact crossover on Geely's BMA platform, previewed by the ICON concept at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show and launched online on 24 February 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was designed in Geely's Shanghai studio under Guy Burgoyne. It has a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 175 hp, or 188 hp with a 48-volt mild hybrid, and a seven-speed dual-clutch as the only transmission.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
