The performance Puma ST is powered by the 1.5 L EcoBoost Dragon I3-T rated at 147 kW (197 hp, 200 PS); What Car? named the Puma ST 1.5 EcoBoost 200 Performance Pack its Sports SUV of the Year in 2021, and the Sunday Times, reviewing it in 2020, noted a 0–62 mph time of 6.7 seconds and 31 mpg, but also "uncomfortable seats and twitchy handling that make less sense in an SUV". In March 2023 the Puma ST Powershift was launched with a 170 hp (130 kW) 1.0-litre mild-hybrid engine and an automatic transmission.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
