The Ford Puma is a B-segment subcompact crossover SUV built on the seventh-generation Fiesta (Ford global B-car platform), announced at Ford's Go Further event in Amsterdam alongside the third-generation Kuga and reviving the name of the Puma sport compact; production started in Craiova, Romania in October 2019 alongside the EcoSport and the 1.0 L EcoBoost Fox engine (a 200-million-euro investment employing 1,700 people), with sales starting in Europe in 2019, Australasia in late 2020 and South Africa from October 2023, and in Europe it sits above the EcoSport and below the Kuga. Designed by Thomas Morel, the Puma is offered with a mild-hybrid 1.0-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo petrol with a belt-driven integrated starter charging a 48-volt, 0.48 kWh lithium-ion pack: 153 bhp (155 PS, 114 kW) and 240 N·m (180 lb·ft) plus 50 N·m from the starter system; the engine list is the 1.0 L EcoBoost Fox I3-T, the 1.0 L EcoBoost Hybrid Fox mHEV, the 1.5 L EcoBoost Dragon I3-T (Puma ST) and the 1.5 L EcoBlue Panther I4-T diesel, with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch, and outputs of 95, 120, 125, 155, 170 and 200 PS. Wheelbase 2,588 mm (101.9 in), length 4,186 mm (164.8 in), width 1,805 mm (71.1 in), height 1,537 mm (60.5 in), kerb weight 1,205 kg. The Vivid Ruby Edition became the flagship trim in December 2022 and a significant facelift followed in February 2024 (revamped grille, new headlights, slimmer bumpers, larger infotainment screen). Euro NCAP gave it five stars in 2019 (94% adult, 84% child, 77% pedestrian) and four in 2022; What Car? named it Car of the Year in January 2020, and it became the best-selling Ford in the UK in 2021 (28,697 registrations) and the best-selling car in the UK in 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Ford Puma Rally1 is based on it.
