The Fiat Cronos (Type 358S) is a subcompact sedan released in February 2018 by Fiat for the Latin American market, based on the Argo hatchback. Developed as a three-box version of the Argo under the codename Type X6S, it takes part of the front platform, the interior and the front doors from the Argo, about 30 percent of its components; the remaining 70 percent are specific, like the bonnet, front crosspieces, front and rear subframe, bumper, rear axle and body skeleton. It uses McPherson suspension at the front and the new MP-S (Modular Platform Sedan) platform. In April 2016 FCA chief Sergio Marchionne announced a $500 million investment plan for the Córdoba, Argentina, plant, with expected annual output of 100,000 units at full capacity; it entered production in February 2018 and went on sale in Brazil and Argentina that month, replacing three models: the Siena Fire, the Grand Siena and the Linea. The engine range consists of a biofuel (petrol/ethanol) 1.3-litre 16V GSE Firefly inline-four producing 99 horsepower on ethanol and a 1.8-litre 16V E.torQ inline-four with 130 horsepower, the 1.3 combined with a five-speed manual or GSR automated manual and the 1.8 with a five-speed manual or six-speed Aisin AW60T automatic; a facelift added an updated grille with new Fiat badges, interior trims, a 1.0-litre petrol engine option and a CVT.
