The Fiat Sedici is a subcompact crossover SUV (B-segment) co-developed by Fiat and Suzuki, mainly for the European market, and built as the Suzuki SX4 at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary. Introduced in December 2005 at the Bologna Motor Show and manufactured until October 2014 (with the last model year being 2015; right-hand-drive production ran 2005–2010), it was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign as an alternative to mini MPVs. Its name derives from the Italian for "sixteen", as 4x4 is 16. Expected production was 60,000 units per year, one third sold by Fiat and two thirds by Suzuki as the SX4; a front-wheel-drive version was introduced in 2008 at about €2,000 less than the 4x4, in Dynamic and Emotion trim levels. Two engines were available at launch, a 1.6-litre Suzuki M16A petrol and a 1.9-litre Fiat Multijet turbodiesel. In March 2009 it was given a more substantial upgrade with a changed front grille similar to that of the Bravo, a new bumper, more sophisticated instrumentation, new fabrics, changed air-conditioning vents and new Euro 5 compliant engines: the 1.9 Multijet was replaced by a 2.0-litre Multijet with 99 kW and the 1.6 petrol was upgraded to 88 kW with lower fuel consumption; this coincided with the withdrawal of sales in the United Kingdom. Since 2012 it has also been sold in Israel with a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual. Production peaked at 34,522 in 2007.
