Revealed by Dacia at the 2012 Paris Motor Show alongside a new Sandero Stepway crossover, on the Dacia M0 platform shared with the second-generation Logan. It was built at Mioveni and later in Morocco, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Algeria, and What Car? named it Best supermini under 12,000 pounds in January 2013 and again in 2014 and 2015. A facelift at the November 2016 Paris Motor Show added LED daytime lights and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder replacing the old 1.2, while a separate July 2019 facelift applied only to the Renault-badged cars built in Brazil. The Sandero R.S. 2.0, Renault Sport's first car built outside France, used the 150 hp 2.0 16v F4R and reached Brazil in September 2015; it ended at the close of 2021.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

This generation of the budget-priced Sandero has done something no other car has managed: become Europe's best-selling car to private buyers several years running.

When the second-generation Sandero reached the UK in 2013, it didn't just join the lineup quietly — it landed as the single most affordable new car sold in the country.

Dacia never sold a 4WD Sandero, but it wasn't for lack of trying — a university engineering team actually built a working 4WD prototype in 2010.

Six months before Suzuki retired the Fronte name for good, the CN11S's 796cc version was already being built in China under a completely different name: the Anchi 6330.
