FactThe humble C-Elysée doubled as a touring-car weapon — its race version got a seven-month head start when new WTCC rules arrived a year early just for it, and Citroën swept the manufacturers' title in its debut season.
The Citroën C-Elysée is a subcompact (B-segment) sedan produced by Citroën from 2012 to 2022, introduced at the Paris Motor Show the same year and closely related to the Peugeot 301, launched the same year. It was facelifted in November 2016. On 20 June 2012 the second generation of C-Elysée was presented in France as the result of a global project: no longer an exclusive model for the Chinese market, it is a brand-new car based on the PSA PF1 front-wheel drive platform common to the Peugeot 208 and Citroën C3, and a close relative of the Peugeot 301, from which it inherited numerous sheet-metal parts such as the doors, fenders and rear trunk lid, as well as the interiors. Its front is characterised by a grille in the shape of an elongated hexagon with the chrome bars that form the Citroën emblem, and the headlights recall those of the second-generation C4. The wheelbase measures 2.655 metres and the body is 4.44 metres long, 14 cm more than the previous model. Production takes place in Vigo, Spain, for export to southern and eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, and for the Chinese market in Wuhan since 2013 through the Dongfeng joint venture.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

It briefly served as senior sibling to Marquette, a GM companion brand cancelled after just one year.

Nissan hired former BMW engineers to help develop the 510's suspension, which is why period reviewers frequently compared its handling to the BMW 1600/2002.

A Trabant 601 won its class at the 1970 Monte Carlo Rally, with a second 601 right behind it in second.

The 600 was a stopgap: the P50's body over the 601's mechanicals, and for a while its estate was built alongside the new 601 saloon.

The G80 Sport brought a 370 PS twin-turbo 3.3 V6, a mesh grille and copper-tinted chrome with copper stitching to match.

The Vigor was sold only with a five-cylinder engine, an unusual configuration Honda used to fit a longer engine transversely under a short hood.

The GS/E coupe earned the nickname "German Charger" for its long hood, short deck stance borrowed from Detroit muscle cars.

This DeVille/Fleetwood was the first production car anywhere to mount its V8 sideways, Cadillac's front-drive gamble on the new C-body.
