FactCitroën dropped the hatchback shape entirely for this C4, betting the whole C-segment car on a coupe-SUV silhouette instead.
Released in June 2020 as a coupé SUV that abandoned the traditional C-segment hatchback and saloon shape, styled by Sylvain Henry and built at Villaverde in Madrid (and Cairo) on the PSA EMP1 platform shared with the Peugeot 208 and 2008, DS 3 Crossback and Opel Corsa and Mokka. It is offered as the C4 (4,360 mm) and, as the C43 four-door saloon-coupe, the C4 X (4,600 mm), each with an electric ë-C4 (50 or 54 kWh, 350-415 km range, 100 or 115 kW). Powertrains are the 1.2 PureTech three-cylinder in 100, 130, 155 and (2024) 136 PS forms, a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel and a six-speed dual-clutch hybrid; the 6-speed manual ended in 2025. Euro NCAP scored the 1.2 petrol Feel Pack 80% for adult occupants in 2021 and ANCAP 76%.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Citroën skipped a three-door second-generation C4, partly so it wouldn't steal sales from the DS3.

This C4's steering wheel hub stays fixed while the rim spins around it — which let Citroën fit production's first 'shaped' driver airbag, built to spread impact force across the body more evenly.

Japan was a minor market for the Swift: when it passed 2 million sales in 2011, about 39% were in India and 27% in Europe, against roughly 15% at home.

To adapt the Horizon for America, Chrysler bought nearly 100 Volkswagen Rabbits purely to reverse engineer them.

The Mk3 Focus RS's AWD system could send 100 percent of engine power to the rear wheels alone — built not in Ford's home country, but at the Saarlouis plant in Germany.

In June 2003, a Mégane II became the subject of the first ever live televised crash test with a real human driver at the wheel instead of a dummy — filmed by Top Gear.

This Wagon R redesigned its rear doors specifically to kill off the D-pillar — bigger doors with built-in quarter glass solved what earlier generations needed a whole extra pillar for.

The BX was the UK's best-selling diesel car for four years from 1987, and 2,315,739 were built in all.

Built to use up Chrysler-Simca's parts bin, it took its engine and gearbox straight from the front-wheel-drive Simca 1100 but mounted them amidships instead.
