FactCitroën skipped a three-door second-generation C4, partly so it wouldn't steal sales from the DS3.
The second-generation C4 debuted at the 2010 Paris show and went on sale in Europe in November 2010, slightly larger than before and offered only as a five-door hatchback, with the DS4 derived from it as a more stylish alternative. It kept the first generation's wheelbase, MacPherson strut front and torsion-beam rear, with disc brakes all round and ABS and ESP standard. It was facelifted in 2015 and the hatchback stayed in production until early 2018, while saloon versions built for China, Russia and South America ran on longer.

Citroën dropped the hatchback shape entirely for this C4, betting the whole C-segment car on a coupe-SUV silhouette instead.

This C4's steering wheel hub stays fixed while the rim spins around it — which let Citroën fit production's first 'shaped' driver airbag, built to spread impact force across the body more evenly.
