The second-generation body-on-frame Trailblazer was unveiled as a concept at the 2011 Dubai Motor Show and as a production model at the Bangkok Motor Show on 21 March 2012. Like the K5 Blazer and Tahoe, it is built on a truck frame, that of the second-generation Colorado, with an enclosed SUV body, three rows of seats and a five-link coil-sprung rear axle. It was built in Thailand (2012–2020) and Brazil, and sold in Southeast Asia, India, South Africa, the Middle East and, as the Holden Colorado 7 and Trailblazer, in Australia. Engines were 2.5 and 2.8 litre Duramax turbo-diesels and a 3.6 litre petrol V6. It is not the 2021 Trailblazer crossover.

Owning one

This Trailblazer is a compact crossover, nothing like the body-on-frame SUV that wore the badge before it — Chevrolet simply recycled the name the same year the old truck-based Trailblazer went out of production.

The Trailblazer rides on the Colorado pickup's truck frame, but its body is entirely different from the A-pillar back.

The first TrailBlazer's standard inline-six landed on Ward's 10 Best Engines list four years running, and the truck itself won North American Truck of the Year in 2002.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
