In 2011 General Motors Brazil introduced a new sedan under the Cobalt name, replacing the ageing local Chevrolet Astra; it shares its underpinnings with the 2011 Chevrolet Sonic on the Gamma II platform and was not sold in North America. It was built in Brazil until 2019, in Colombia from 2012 to 2016, and in Uzbekistan from 2013, where it was also badged Ravon R4. It launched with a 1.4 Econo.Flex engine, joined by a 1.8 in 2013, and Russian-market cars imported from Uzbekistan used a 1.5 litre of 105 PS.
