FactCadillac retired the XT4 for North America in January 2025 but kept building it in Shanghai for China alone.
The Cadillac XT4 is a subcompact luxury crossover introduced at the 2018 New York Auto Show and sold from autumn 2018 as a 2019 model, built at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas and by SAIC-GM in Shanghai on GM's E2 platform. It launched with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder of 237 hp and a nine-speed automatic, with front- or all-wheel drive. A 2024 facelift brought a restyled front and a 33-inch curved touchscreen. North American production ended in January 2025 after the 2025 model year, while the XT4 continues to be sold in China.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
