The first-generation BYD Tang, introduced at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show with China deliveries from June 2015, was a plug-in-hybrid SUV based on the BYD S6, the world's top-selling plug-in hybrid and third best-selling plug-in car of 2016. Its 2.0-litre turbo four made 151 kW (202 hp) and 236 lb-ft, paired with two 110 kW motors (250 or 300 lb-ft depending on tune) for a combined 371 kW (498 hp) / 605 lb-ft in the entry model and 411 kW (551 hp) / 642 lb-ft in the performance model, giving 0-100 km/h in 4.9 and 4.5 seconds respectively; an 18.4 kWh LFP battery gave 80 km of electric range. Front engine, front-wheel drive; wheelbase 2,720 mm (107.1 in), length 4,815 mm (189.6 in), width 1,855 mm (73.0 in), height 1,720 mm (67.7 in).
