FactFor a few weeks in 2023 this SUV was officially rebranded the 'Huawei AITO M5', before a Huawei executive abruptly ordered all Huawei branding stripped from AITO stores by April 1.
The AITO M5, the first product of AITO and the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance with Huawei, was unveiled 23 December 2021 as a range-extender EV (EREV) on the Seres SF5's platform, with a battery-electric (BEV) variant following in September 2022; it slots below the AITO M7 and is also sold as the Seres 5 (export), Seres M5 (Russia) and Eres M5 (Iran). Its 10.4-inch dashboard and 15.6-inch centre screen were among the first to run Huawei HarmonyOS 3. The EREV uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder generator with a 200 kW Huawei DriveONE induction motor; power across the range spans 200-365 kW (272-496 PS). Rear-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD (2022-2024) for the EV; front-engine plus rear-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD for the EREV; wheelbase 2,880 mm (113.4 in), length 4,785 mm (188.4 in), width 1,930 mm (76.0 in), height 1,620 mm (63.8 in).

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

IIHS only crash-tests the driver's corner; tested on the passenger side instead, the CX-5 showed far worse intrusion.

Despite launching from a standing start in late 2025, the i60 topped GAC Aion's own sales chart through January's seasonal slowdown.

Every Defender before this one was body-on-frame — this generation broke decades of tradition with an aluminium unibody structure instead.

Crashed on the passenger side instead of the driver's, the 2014 Forester showed far more intrusion and would have rated Marginal with the IIHS.

Subaru built a 2.5XT for the National Ski Patrol with a diamond-plate floor, a 9,500-pound winch and a toboggan on the roof.

The L405 was the first Range Rover with a fully aluminum monocoque body, cutting up to 420 kg from the outgoing steel-bodied L322.

Rear passengers get a 17.3-inch screen that extends from the roof, and a lidar sensor sits in the front of the roof.

Its range-extender variant is rated for 1,200 km on a tank and charge, over three times the car's electric-only range.
