For this generation, Honda split the HR-V nameplate in two: the rest of the world got the Vezel-based original, while North America and China got a completely different, larger HR-V built on the Civic platform.
This HR-V started life as a concept literally called Urban SUV, and Honda sold it as the Vezel everywhere that mattered at home.
The original HR-V's four-wheel-drive system came straight off the CR-V, Honda's Real Time 4WD, shared between an SUV and this odd little three-door coupe-crossover.
