Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2012 as the replacement for the 207, on the PSA PF1 platform and designed under Pierre Authier (exterior Sylvain Henry, interior Adam Bazydlo, colour and trim Marie Sanou). It weighs 173 kg (110 kg on average) less than the 207 while offering more room, with a 285-litre boot, a tablet-style display and a low 0.29 drag coefficient. The three-door was built at the new Trnava plant from November 2011 and the five-door from June 2012 also at Mulhouse and Poissy, with Brazilian production from January 2013 to March 2020. The 208 GTi, shown in March 2012 and launched in September 2012 (production from February 2013), has a 200 PS 1.6 THP, weighs 1,160 kg (90 kg less than the 207 GTi), has 302 mm front discs and a 10/20 mm wider track; the limited "30th by Peugeot Sport" of November 2014 marked the 205 GTi's anniversary with 208 PS, a Torsen limited-slip differential from the RCZ R and 323 mm Brembo brakes. A June 2015 facelift added the GT-Line trim, and the three-door was dropped in mid-2018. Sébastien Loeb set a Pikes Peak record of 8:13.878 in the 875 bhp 208 T16 on 30 June 2013. Peugeot announced the 300,000th 208 in February 2013.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
