FactThe Axia's name nods to being Perodua's tenth model: the 'x' stands for ten, echoing 'Asia'.
The Perodua Axia, launched 15 September 2014 as successor to the Viva and Malaysia's most affordable car, was the first model from Perodua's second factory at Rawang, Selangor, licensing the Daihatsu Ayla/Toyota Agya platform with Perodua-designed upper-body and exterior elements; it was Malaysia's best-selling car 2015-2017 and passed 600,000 units sold by mid-2023. The name derives from the Greek 'axia' (value), also resembling 'Asia' with an 'x' standing for ten, as Perodua's tenth model. A 1.0-litre three-cylinder came as the 1KR-DE2 (2014-2017) then the 1KR-VE (2017-2026), with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Front engine, front-wheel drive; wheelbase 2,455 mm (96.7 in), length 3,645-3,650 mm (143.5-143.7 in), width 1,620-1,625 mm (63.8-64.0 in), height 1,510-1,525 mm (59.4-60.0 in), kerb weight 825-865 kg (1,819-1,907 lb).

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
