FactThis generation of Mazda's people-mover was a design first: it introduced Mazda's "Nagare" (flow) design language to a production car before anything else wore it.
The third-generation Premacy, model code CW, was the first car to use Mazda's Nagare design language, and began production on 13 May 2010 with sales in Japan from 1 July 2010 in three grades: 20CS, 20E and 20S. In Europe the Mazda5 was offered with a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel, a 1.8-litre four-cylinder or a 2.0-litre direct-injection gasoline engine with i-stop start/stop; for 2012 the US Mazda5 got a 157 hp 2.5-litre. A 2013 update in Japan introduced the Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre engine and a 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic. It was also sold as the Nissan Lafesta Highway Star from 15 June 2011. The last US model year was 2015, and Mazda announced the discontinuation of the Premacy in 2018 with no direct successor; sales ended on 23 February 2018 in Japan.

Owning one
An estimate, for the 1.6 MZ-CD turbo-diesel trim: fuel on its EPA figure and a dated national price, upkeep on a per-mile average for the kind of car it is.

This generation of Mazda's people-mover was a design first: it introduced Mazda's "Nagare" (flow) design language to a production car before anything else wore it.

Shortly after this Mazda5 generation launched in the US, a recall hit: drivers unaware their automatic had a 'sport mode' that locked the transmission in second gear were cooking their exhausts.

In Taiwan, Ford beat Mazda to showrooms with its own version of this exact car — the rebadged Ford Ixion MAV went on sale two weeks before the real Mazda Premacy launched there.

Same body, same money, other badges — tap any card to flip.

This Presage minivan shares its underlying platform with the Teana sedan and the North American Murano crossover — one architecture doing three very different jobs.

Subaru's family-hauling Exiga got an unlikely STi treatment in 2009 — front spoiler, sport muffler, tighter suspension and a leather Momo wheel — but only 300 were ever built.

YRV stands for Young Recreational Vehicle, a mini MPV built to out-handle its own segment rivals.

The Terraza was Buick's first-ever minivan for the North American market - a badge-engineered cousin of the Chevrolet Uplander, Pontiac Montana SV6, and Saturn Relay.

The restyled 1994 Lumina Minivan quietly made American automotive history: it was the first minivan sold in the US with a power sliding door you could open by remote.

The first-generation Lumina APV minivan was nicknamed the "Dustbuster" by the press for its sharply sloped windshield, which pushed the dashboard far forward of the driver.

Its steeply sloped windshield gave the Lumina APV one of the deepest dashboards ever fitted to a mass-produced car.

The first Presage wasn't really its own car underneath — most of its parts came straight from the Nissan R'nessa, with more shared with its platform twin, the Bassara.
