The second-generation Picanto made its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, designed by Kia's European design team in Frankfurt under the direction of Peter Schreyer, and is longer in wheelbase and overall length than its predecessor. It was offered with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder or a 1.25-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine, with a petrol/LPG version of the 1.0-litre and, in Brazil, a flex-fuel version. It was available worldwide except North America, Venezuela, China and Singapore as a five-door hatchback, while Europe received an exclusive three-door variant of the same length. In Kia's home market it is the Morning. The second-generation facelifted Picanto for Pakistan was launched in 2019 and is assembled by Lucky Motor Corporation in Karachi.

Owning one
