FactPartway through this generation's life, its Isuzu-designed interior was quietly swapped for a Chevrolet-designed one — a corporate handover most buyers never noticed.
The second-generation Holden Colorado was revealed at the 2011 Australian International Motor Show and went on sale in June 2012 in Australia and New Zealand, sourced from the Rayong factory in Thailand, with only one engine, the 2.8-litre turbo diesel built by GM Thailand; trims ran LS, LT, LSX, LTZ, LTZ+ and Z71 for the 2020 model year (LT only RWD; LSX, LTZ+ and Z71 only 4WD). The 2016 model year facelift (RG II) kept the front end and added a Chevrolet-designed interior in place of the Isuzu-designed one, upgraded power and better build quality; the 2.8 Duramax (2,776 cc turbodiesel I4) is listed at 197 hp (147 kW) at 3,600 rpm and 440 N·m (325 lb·ft) with the manual or 500 N·m (369 lb·ft) with the six-speed automatic at 2,000 rpm, the automatic only with AWD. The Colorado and the Colorado 7, made at the GM Thailand plant, were both discontinued in 2020 with the demise of the Holden brand and the closure of the plant. The pre-facelift LTZ was criticised by CarAdvice for its interior, ride, gearbox and build quality, but praised for fuel consumption, practicality and servicing costs.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The Colorado only exists in Holden showrooms because GM and Isuzu split — it replaced the Isuzu-based Rodeo the moment that partnership ended.

The GMT400 split the twins for good: 1988 was the year "C/K" became Chevrolet-only badging, while GMC's version of the very same truck became the Sierra.

GMC found 10 extra horsepower in the Sierra All Terrain X's 5.3L V8 with nothing more than a performance exhaust, no other changes needed to go from 355 to 365 hp.

This Sierra kept rolling off the line for a full extra year after its replacement arrived - badged "Classic" in 2007 just to tell the two generations apart on dealer lots.

When this GMT900 Sierra launched for 2007, GM kept selling the outgoing truck alongside it, badged "Classic," so buyers could choose old or new side by side on the same lot.

Toyota showed it as the T150 until Ford sued over the likeness to the F-150, and the production truck was renamed Tundra.

A Louisiana owner put over a million miles on his 2007 Tundra in eight years; Toyota gave him a new truck and took his apart to study it.

Toyota's Texas Tundra plant sits on land bought from the state's oldest working cattle ranch, and the 1794 Edition is named for the year that ranch was founded.

Its launch colours had pun names such as "Anti-Establish Mint" and "Freudian Gilt", sent to Lee Iacocca by a friend.
