FactFord recalled about 42,300 Figos and Aspires over a faulty restraint-control-module software glitch.
Ford India launched the second-generation Figo (codenamed B562) in 2015, six years after the first, with "Aston Martin-esque" front grilles (chrome slats and surround on the Titanium and Titanium+ trims, black or silver on the lower trims), built at Sanand, Gujarat on the sixth-generation Fiesta platform; it was also sold as the Ford Ka (Ka+ in Europe), as the Figo Aspire sedan (from August 2015) and, from 2018, as the crossover-styled Ford Freestyle (1.2 petrol and 1.5 diesel, five-speed manual, Titanium and Titanium+). Three engines: the 1.2-litre petrol (88 PS, 112 N·m, 5-speed manual), the larger 1.5-litre petrol (112 PS, 136 N·m, only with a 6-speed dual-clutch) and a 1.5-litre diesel (100 PS, 215 N·m, 5-speed manual); a performance-oriented Figo S added a stiffer suspension, a rear sway bar and bigger wheels. All variants had dual front airbags except the base (driver only) and the top variant had six; front MacPherson struts with coil springs and anti-roll bar, a semi-independent twist beam at the rear, and the MyFord Dock introduced on the Aspire. It was re-launched in February 2020 for BS6, and Ford India recalled about 42,300 Figos and Aspires (produced to 12 April 2016) for a restraint-control-module software fault. Global NCAP gave the no-ABS Aspire 3 stars (adult) and 2 (toddlers) in 2017 and Latin NCAP 2.0 the Indian-made Latin American Figo with four airbags 4 and 4 stars in 2019; sales collapsed after the Figo and Aspire were dropped when the Chennai and Sanand plants closed (the Mexican Figo stayed on sale to 2021). Wheelbase 2,491 mm (98.1 in), length 3,886 mm (153.0 in) hatchback, 3,995 mm Aspire, width 1,695 mm (66.7 in), height 1,525 mm (60.0 in), kerb weight 1,037–1,041 kg.
