The Ford Figo is a subcompact hatchback made by Ford India at its Chennai and Sanand plants and sold in emerging countries between March 2010 and 2021, based on the Mark V European Fiesta hatchback with revised front and rear treatments (smaller than the Fiesta Classic Ford also sold in India); "Figo" is a colloquial Italian word for "cool". The first generation (B517) was unveiled in Delhi in September 2009 and launched in India in March 2010 with 25,000 sales bookings by July, its diesel the same 1.4-litre Duratorq that powered the Ikon and Fiesta and its petrol the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Duratec, all with a 5-speed manual and power steering, meeting Bharat Stage IV, in LXI, EXI, ZXI and Titanium trims (the Titanium with alloys, dual airbags and ABS); a facelift on 15 October 2012 brought a larger hexagonal grille and redesigned lamps (South Africa from January 2013) with unchanged mechanicals. It won 20 Indian industry awards in 2010 (more than any other car) and the 2011 Indian Car of the Year, was runner-up for the 2011 South African Car of the Year, reached 100,000 units in 15 months, 200,000 in August 2012 and 300,000 in August 2013, and was sold as the Ikon Hatch in Mexico (a 1.6-litre Duratec of 98 hp). Global NCAP gave the no-airbag Indian Figo 0 stars for adults and 2 for toddlers in 2014. The engine table: 1.2 Duratec 16V DOHC (1,196 cc; 71 PS / 70 hp at 6,250 rpm, 75 lb·ft; India), 1.4 Duratorq diesel 8V SOHC (69 PS / 68 hp at 4,000 rpm, 118 lb·ft at 2,000; India and South Africa), 1.4 Duratec DOHC (84 PS / 83 hp at 6,000 rpm, 94 lb·ft; South Africa and Middle East) and 1.6 Duratec DOHC (98 hp at 6,500 rpm, 105 lb·ft; Mexico and Middle East, the latter with a 4-speed automatic). The infobox gives 1,242 cc and 1,398 cc where the table gives 1,196 and 1,399 cc, so only litre figures are entered. Wheelbase 2,489 mm (98.0 in), length 3,795 mm (149.4 in), width 1,680 mm (66.1 in), height 1,427 mm (56.2 in); ground clearance 168 mm, 45 L tank, 284 L boot.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
