FactThis Strada generation finally added a proper 4-door, 5-seat double cab — a first for the model.
The second-generation Strada (code project 281), presented on 26 June 2020 in Brazil, is based on the new MC-P modular platform derived from the Fiat Argo, with the front MacPherson suspension and part of the cabin from the Fiat Mobi and the rear suspension of the Brazilian Fiat Fiorino (327). For the first time the Strada was built as a four-door, five-seat double cab; it is offered with a 720 kg / 1,354-litre load area in the two-door and 650 kg / 844 litres in the four-door, lifts 211 mm off the ground with a 24-degree front angle of attack, and has UConnect 5 with a 7-inch touchscreen. The range consists of the Fiat 1.4 Fire EVO Flex 8-valve (85 hp petrol, 88 hp ethanol) in the Endurance versions and the 1.3 Firefly Flex 8-valve (101 hp petrol, 109 hp ethanol) in Freedom, Volcano and Ranch, both with a five-speed manual or simulated seven-speed CVT and the E-Locker traction control; from August 2023 the Ultra and Ranch versions get a 1.0-litre gasoline/ethanol turbo producing 125/130 hp and 200 N·m. From 18 November 2020 the rebadged RAM 700 was offered in Mexico in SLT (regular and crew cab), Bighorn and Laramie trim levels.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

In Mexico this same Strada quietly became a Ram — rebadged by Ram Trucks as the Ram 700 starting with the 2015 model year.

Marketed across Latin America as a proper working pickup, this first Strada could actually carry only 700 kg — modest beside the tough-truck image Fiat sold it with.
Rivals
Same body, same money, other badges — tap any card to flip.

Holden killed its ute in 1984, then resurrected it in 1990 on a Commodore floorpan after a six-year gap.

Holden's 1960 FB was a modest facelift with one first: it was the first Holden ever built in left-hand drive, built specifically to chase export markets.

Holden's first home-grown ute could barely haul 360 kg — about one strong adult and an esky of beer — a fraction of what a modern ute carries, yet it put Holden in the work-truck business for good.

This FE generation was the first Holden ever assembled outside Australia — New Zealand built its first example in January 1957.

Holden actually built a wagon version of the FJ alongside the ute and sedan — it just never reached production, staying a one-off prototype.

Nearly every VP Commodore sedan had a badge-engineered Toyota twin sold as the Lexcen — except the ute. Holden built the VP Utility, and no Toyota equivalent of it was ever made.

This EH ute belongs to one of the fastest-selling runs in Australian car history — 256,959 EH Holdens, sedans to utes, sold across barely 18 months before the HD replaced it.

The VS ute ran five years without a full redesign, the longest single utility generation Holden built after 1980.
