The fourth-generation Viper SRT-10 ACR (American Club Racer) is a track-focused, road-legal version of the SRT-10. A carbon-fibre front splitter, canards and an adjustable carbon-fibre rear wing give 1,000 lb of downforce at 150 mph, with KW coil-over dampers, StopTech two-piece rotors and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres. Power stayed at the SRT-10's 600 hp from the 8.4-litre V10, but the drag cut top speed to 180 mph for 2008–2009 and 184 mph for 2010 with redesigned wing endplates. It reaches 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

A 2017 Nürburgring record attempt for it was crowdfunded on GoFundMe, and it left the ACR the fastest manual, rear-drive American car around the track.

SRT engineers used a supercomputer at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory to help develop the fifth-generation Viper's aerodynamics.

Built for the Viper Cup as a track-only car, it lapped the Nürburgring in 7:03.058 in 2012, more than nine seconds faster than the regular ACR.

The 600-hp V10 in the 2008 Viper didn't come from Detroit alone — McLaren Automotive quietly helped develop it.

A lighter aluminium chassis meant for this Viper's successor got shelved when Chrysler hit financial trouble — Mercedes later built on that stillborn design for the SLS AMG.

This Viper broke Chrysler's own numbering habit, the first ever built with VINs running in exact sequence, 001 to 100.

The GTS coupe's "double bubble" roof wasn't styling flourish — the raised bubbles existed to clear drivers' helmets, borrowed straight from Pete Brock's Shelby Daytona.

The original Viper was so stripped for speed it shipped with no door handles, no key cylinders, and no air conditioning — a race car Dodge let you drive to the shops.

The Celica XX, Japan's name for the A60 Supra, introduced the world's first in-car navigation computer.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
