FactThis generation of Mira Gino went full Sanrio: a Hello Kitty edition came with character-shaped key and door-lock knobs, matching floormats and special upholstery.
The first-generation Mira Gino, introduced in March 1999 in three- or five-door versions, is a retro-styled kei car based on the L700 Mira (replacing the Mira Classic), whose look evokes the Compagno and the classic Mini. It was at first offered only with the 658 cc EF-series three-cylinder, naturally aspirated (58 PS) or turbocharged (64 PS), in front- or four-wheel drive; from October 2002 came a Minilite Special (Minilite alloys, stickers, extra driving lights), later joined by the Minilite Special Turbo and Special Limited, and a Hello Kitty Edition (key and door-lock knobs in the character's shape, stickers, smoked glass and floor mats) presented in December 2001. In August 2002 the European 989 cc EJ-VE went into the Mira Gino 1000, which no longer fitted the kei class and was slightly longer and wider (bumper overriders and fender trim): 64 PS at 6,000 rpm, the same peak as the turbo but with much more power at low speeds, with only a four-speed automatic in a base and a better-equipped "X" trim. Only 1,292 Gino 1000s were built before production ended in June 2004, when the 1.0-litre Boon replaced it, and the kei-class Mira Gino stayed in production until November 2004.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
