The second-generation Onix, on the GM GEM (Global Emerging Markets) platform and related to the Tracker, the Buick Excelle and the Sonic, comes as a five-door hatchback and a four-door sedan (the Onix Plus in Brazil, the Onix Sedan in Colombia, the only body in Mexico) and is built in Brazil, Argentina, China (Yantai, SAIC-GM from April 2019, where it replaced the Sonic and Cavalier) and Uzbekistan (UzAuto Motors, sales from late 2022), and was built in Mexico until May 2022. In Brazil the sedan debuted in September 2019 and the hatchback in November 2019, in LT and LTZ trims plus a new top Premier, all with six airbags, ABS and stability control, with a 1.0-litre port-injection engine in naturally aspirated (82 hp) and turbocharged (116 hp) forms with a six-speed manual or automatic (the automatic exclusive to the 1.0 Turbo); the Onix Plus scored five stars from Latin NCAP 2.0 in 2019, and the Onix was Brazil's best-selling car model in 2019 (268,066 units), as it was from 2015 to 2020. In China it has a turbocharged, direct-injected 1.0-litre three-cylinder rated at 92 kW (123 hp, 125 PS) and 180 N·m (133 lb·ft), and a naturally aspirated 1.0 DVVT on the manual 320 trim; the first variant to debut was the Onix Redline with black trim, red accents and a two-tone interior. In Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, where engines up to 1.0 L get no tax break, entry versions use a naturally aspirated 1.2 with a five-speed manual only and the turbocharged 1.0 has no flex-fuel capability. In Mexico, from spring 2020, the LT and LS use a turbocharged 1.0 making 85 kW (114 hp) and 120 lb·ft, and the top Premier a turbocharged 1.2 making 96 kW (129 hp) and 141 lb·ft (automatic only). In Colombia it launched as the Onix Turbo in March 2020 while the first generation was renamed Joy. An updated Onix arrived in Brazil in July 2025 for the 2026 model year with a new front end, an 8-inch digital cluster, an 11-inch infotainment screen and a more efficient engine. The infobox lists a 1.3 L LGB three-cylinder as turbo while the powertrain table calls the 320's 1.3 L unit a VVT petrol, so its aspiration is not entered. Width 68.1 in and height 57.9 in; the wheelbase (100.4 in hatchback, 102.4 in sedan) and length (163.8 in, 176.1 in) depend on the body.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
