A Fiat Nuova Campagnola was the Popemobile that carried John Paul II during the 1981 assassination attempt in St. Peter's Square. It's preserved today in the Vatican Museums.

Fiat's military 4x4 almost launched as the "Alpina" — with WWII still fresh in memory, the name was dropped so it wouldn't evoke the Alpini army corps, and it became the Campagnola instead.
