The E58-code 360 V8 was the hottest engine Chrysler offered in the 1980 Cordoba — and almost nobody bought it: fewer than 100 were ordered before it was quietly dropped.

The second-gen Cordoba's biggest engine, a 360-cubic-inch V8, found so few takers — fewer than 100 orders — that Chrysler dropped it after a single model year.

The 1979 Cordoba 300's white paint and 300-style grille looked like a trim package -- but Chrysler insisted on marketing it as its own standalone model, never as a "Cordoba 300."

The Cordoba almost wore a Plymouth badge: Chrysler drew it up as the Sebring before moving it upmarket to cash in on personal-luxury margins.

Cordoba wasn't always its own car. In 1970 it was just a one-year appearance package on the Chrysler Newport, five years before "Cordoba" became a model of its own.
