FactTata named the Altroz after the albatross, then quietly killed its turbo Racer variant in 2025 after barely a year on sale.
The Tata Altroz, named for the albatross, was revealed at the 2019 Geneva show alongside the Buzzard, Buzzard Sport and H2X concepts, launching in India on 22 January 2020 on the ALFA-ARC platform shared with the Punch; three engines are offered — a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol, a turbocharged 1.2-litre three, and a 1.5-litre turbodiesel four — with a 5-speed manual or an optional wet-clutch 6-speed DCA automatic. The DCA-paired 1.2 Revotron (shared with the Tigor and Tiago) makes 86 hp (87 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 83 lb-ft at 3,300 rpm; a 2024 Altroz Racer performance variant (discontinued May 2025) used a 1.2-litre turbo petrol at 118 hp (120 PS) and 125 lb-ft. Front engine, front-wheel drive; wheelbase 2,501 mm (98.5 in), length 3,990 mm (157.1 in), width 1,755 mm (69.1 in), height 1,523 mm (60.0 in), curb weight 1,036-1,150 kg (2,284-2,535 lb).
