The Suzuki Alto Lapin is a kei car with a five-door hatchback body, manufactured since 2002 by Suzuki for the Japanese market only and based on the popular Alto; the name comes from the French word for rabbit and the car wears rabbit-head badges. The first prototype was unveiled at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show. The first generation (HE21S) was introduced on 22 January 2002 with four trims (G, X, Z, X2, the top grade two-tone), powered by the K6A 0.66 L naturally aspirated engine (40 kW / 54 hp) with front- or all-wheel drive and a four-speed automatic; a Turbo followed in October 2002 (44 kW / 60 hp, 5-speed manual optional), a canvas-top version in February 2003 (automatic only, discontinued December 2005), and the series II in September 2003 added SS (sportier design, round headlights, MOMO steering wheel) and L; series III came in October 2004, series IV December 2005, series V April 2006 (round-headlamp L added, X2 dropped) and series VI May 2007 (new front grille). Mazda also sold it as the Mazda Spiano through its Autozam dealerships until 2008, with some styling differences. The Lapin has a distinctive boxy shape that proved popular with female buyers and won the 2008 Japanese Good Design Award. Wheelbase 92.9 in, length 133.7 in, width 58.1 in; the height and weight ranges are not entered.

In 2022 Suzuki gave the Lapin LC a front end deliberately styled after the 1960s Fronte 360 — chasing retro charm six decades later.

The second-generation Lapin quietly dropped the manual gearbox, replacing it entirely with a CVT.
