FactMG Rover's own R3 Rover 200 had been designed years earlier as this car's replacement, before plans changed.
The redesigned Metro of 1990, which wore the Rover brand name and was sold as the Rover 100 abroad, and which replaced the Metro nameplate in Britain from 1995 onwards. Like its predecessor it was built at Longbridge by the Rover Group, and it was not replaced in the city-car class until the Rover CityRover launched in late 2003, a 1.4-engined car built in India alongside the Tata Indica. The R3-generation Rover 200 of 1995 had originally been designed as its replacement. From 1994 the petrols were badged Rover 111i and 114i and the diesel Rover 115 D, with a 1.1, a 1.4 eight-valve and two 1.4 16-valve petrols and a 1.4 or 1.5 diesel. Across all generations 2,078,218 Metros were built.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
