The Renault Kwid is a crossover city car produced by Renault, initially intended for the Indian market and launched in 2015; in 2017 an improved Brazilian version was introduced for Latin American markets. It was developed under the project code BBA, led by senior engineer Gérard Detourbet with a team settled in India, and is the first car based on the CMF-A platform jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. It is slightly longer but narrower than Renault's smallest conventional vehicle, the Twingo, with a high sitting position and a 180 mm ride height; its 300-litre boot was called the most voluminous in its class. At launch the only engine was a three-cylinder 799 cc unit with 40 kW (54 hp) and 72 N·m of torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual; in August 2016 the Kwid received a more powerful 999 cc engine with 50 kW (67 hp) and 91 N·m, and the Easy-R 5-speed automated manual became available in India. The Kwid facelift added a larger 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an optional passenger-side front airbag. The Indian version with no ABS scored a 0-star adult rating from Global NCAP in 2016, and the Brazilian Kwid with four airbags was tested by Latin NCAP in 2017. Its battery-electric version, the City K-ZE, was launched in China in 2019, sold in Europe since 2021 as the Dacia Spring Electric and in Latin America since 2022 as the Kwid E-Tech; the Kwid is also related to the Datsun redi-Go, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Renault Triber.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
