Introduced in November 2012 under Laurens van den Acker as a five-door hatchback and Sport Tourer estate on the Renault–Nissan B platform (sharing with the Captur and Nissan Micra V), built in France, Turkey, Slovenia and, later, Algeria. Engines were a 1.2 16v (75 hp), the 0.9 TCe turbo triple (90 hp), a 1.2 TCe (120 hp) and the 1.5 dCi diesel (75 or 90 hp); the Renault Sport 1.6 turbo made 200 hp in the R.S. 200 EDC and 220 hp in the R.S. 220 Trophy (6.7 s and 6.6 s to 100 km/h). The August 2016 Phase 2 added LED headlights and a new grille; by 2018 the UK range was cut to Play, Iconic and GT-Line, dropping the R.S. In France it stayed on as the Clio Génération until August 2020, and in Algeria it is still assembled.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
