The 306 was Peugeot's small family car from 1993 to 2002, launched in February 1993 to replace the 309. Mechanically it is virtually identical to the Citroën ZX, with front-wheel drive, MacPherson struts and PSA's trailing-arm torsion-bar rear suspension with passive rear-wheel steering. It came as a three- and five-door hatchback, saloon, estate and a Pininfarina-built cabriolet. The 307 replaced it in 2001, while the cabriolet and estate continued until 2002.
