FactThe 207 launched in the UK on 8 June 2006, the exact day unions began boycotting Peugeot over the Ryton plant closure.
A supermini presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006 and in production from April 2006 as the successor to the 206, on a modified version of the platform of the Citroën C3. It was built at Poissy in France, in Madrid and at a new plant in Trnava, Slovakia, and was launched in France, Spain and Italy in April 2006 and in the UK on 8 June 2006, the day British unions began a boycott campaign over the planned closure of the Ryton plant. It came as a three- or five-door hatchback, the 207 SW station wagon, the 207 CC coupé cabriolet launched in December 2006 and a 207 Van, sold in France as the 207 Affaire. The engines included Valvetronic VTi petrols developed with the BMW Group, which also appear in the Mini Cooper S, and THP turbo petrols, with the GTI (RC in some markets) using the 175 hp turbocharged 1.6 with a glass roof and a manual gearbox only. The July 2009 facelift brought a smaller grille, revised front lighting and LED rear lights, and raised the GTI to 184 hp. A Le Mans Series special edition of 2,000 units followed Peugeot's top three qualifying places at Le Mans. The 207 met mixed reviews, with criticism of the interior and gearbox.
