FactPeugeot's best-selling car ever, the 206 stayed in production in Iran until 2024, twenty-six years after it launched.
Developed under the codename T1 as a replacement for the 205, drawn by Gérard Welter (the CC by Murat Günak), and released in September 1998 as a hatchback. The coupé-cabriolet 206 CC (built by Heuliez at Cerizay) followed in September 2000, the 206 SW estate (built at Poissy) in September 2001 and the 206 SD saloon in Iran in September 2005; the 207 replaced it in Europe in April 2006. A facelifted version, launched in South America in September 2008 and in Europe in February 2009 as the 206+ (marketed as the 207 Compact in South America and 207 in China), was built at Mulhouse until Peugeot dropped it in May 2013 with the arrival of the 208. Built on the PSA PF1 platform (shared with the Citroën C2 and C3 and the Peugeot 1007), it is Peugeot's best-selling model of all time with 8,358,217 sold by 2012, was counted as the thirtieth most long-lived single-generation car by Autocar in 2020, and stayed in production in Iran until 2024. The range topped out at the 2.0 EW10J4S with 177 PS (GTI 180/RC) and the 137 PS 2.0 S16.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
