FactThe Ioniq came with no gasoline-only option at all, just hybrid, plug-in or electric, a first for Hyundai.
The Ioniq was a compact five-door liftback sold from 2016 to 2022, the first Hyundai offered with no conventional engine-only version: it came as a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a battery electric car. The hybrid launched in South Korea in February 2016, the electric in July 2016 and the plug-in in February 2017. Through the 2019 model year the Ioniq Electric was the EPA's most efficient vehicle, and the electric model got a larger battery and more power in a 2020 refresh. Production ended in July 2022.
