Debuted in 1993 in Japan at Honda Verno dealers with a four-headlight "spider eyes" front end, as a three-door liftback or four-door pillared hardtop sedan (designer Akira Shimoyama). The controversial headlamps were replaced in a late-1994 JDM facelift with flatter units and the top model was renamed the Integra SiR; the Type R (a separate entry) followed in 1995. Japanese engines were the 1.6 L ZC (120 hp) and the 1.8 L B18C DOHC VTEC (178 hp in the Si/SiR); the four-wheel-drive DB9 was a sedan with the 1.6 L ZC and Honda's Real Time 4WD. Non-JDM cars, sold as the Acura Integra in North America, got a 1998 nose facelift, and export trims included the US RS (B18B1, 140 hp) and GS-R (B18C1, 170 hp). Some European markets such as Greece received the 104 hp 1,590 cc ZC. The Integra SJ (EK3, 1996–2001) was a rebadged Civic Ferio, sold in Thailand as the Isuzu Vertex.

The Celica XX, Japan's name for the A60 Supra, introduced the world's first in-car navigation computer.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
