The Latin American market received a separate Ka, based on the first-generation Ka chassis with a redesigned exterior and interior adopting Ford's "Kinetic Design". It was introduced in December 2007 in Brazil and went on sale in early January 2008 as a 2009 model year, and was also exported to other markets in Latin America, though not to Mexico. Developed under the B402 project code, the model was designed and engineered in Brazil, with 123 test prototypes and 5,145 engineering tests during development, and it offers 1.0-litre Endura-E and 1.6-litre Zetec flex-fuel engines.
