FactBrazil gets a sub-litre Argo engine to dodge local tax bands, an engine sold nowhere else the car is built.
The Fiat Argo (Type 358, codeproject X6H) is a subcompact car (B-segment) by Fiat, developed for the South American market and produced at Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil, since 2017; a sedan version, the Fiat Cronos, was launched in 2018. It was presented in Brazil in May 2017 and sold from June, replacing the Fiat Punto and Palio as a five-door hatchback (with the Bravo also listed as a predecessor); it was presented a year later than planned and developed to strengthen Fiat's offering in the traditionally important subcompact segment. A facelift was presented in late July 2022 with a redesigned bumper and front grille, steering wheel, wheels and interior trim. The three-cylinder 1.0-litre version of the FireFly engine is exclusive to Brazil, where sub-litre engines benefit from lower taxation, while the 1.3-litre engine is standard elsewhere; at launch the 1.3 was offered with the GSR automated-manual transmission, phased out in 2019, while the 1.8 E.torQ has retained an automatic option. The Trekking trim released in 2019 uses the 1.3 as base engine with the 1.8 offered only with the automatic. All engines are flex-fuel in Brazil and gasoline-only elsewhere. Latin NCAP gave the most basic version with two airbags and no ESC zero stars for adult occupants. The Argo also shares its platform with the Cronos, Pulse and Fastback.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
