FactThe Cinquecento put its 704cc twin lengthwise and everything bigger crosswise, one of the few cars ever built both ways.
A three-door city car made by Fiat Auto Poland at Tychy from 1991 to 1998 over a single generation, styled by Ermanno Cressoni at Centro Stile Fiat, the successor to the Fiat 126 and replaced by the Seicento. 1,164,525 were built. It was one of few cars available with a longitudinal and a transverse engine layout at once: the little 704 cc twin was mounted longitudinally, the bigger units transversely. The 1994 Cinquecento Sporting used the 1108 cc FIRE from the Punto and gave birth to a rallying trophy and a Group A kit-car; an electric Elettra was built from 1992 to 1996.
