The Mira e:S is the fuel-economy-focused successor to the Mira, previewed by the e:S concept at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show and released on 20 September 2011. Its "e:S technology" (a higher-compression KF-VE with i-EGR, an efficient CVT, idle-stop as standard and about 60 kg of weight saving) improved fuel efficiency by 40 percent. The 658 cc engine first made 52 PS; from July 2014 a revised Atkinson-cycle version with a 12.2:1 compression ratio made 49 PS. It was facelifted on 19 August 2013 and replaced in May 2017. Toyota sold it as the Pixis Epoch and Subaru as the Pleo Plus.
