FactThe Naked wore exposed hinges and bolts on purpose, an idea Land Rover and Citroen copied years later on the Streetwise and C3 XTR.
The Daihatsu Naked is a kei car built by Daihatsu from 1999 to 2003, first presented as a concept at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, with the production-ready model shown there in 1999. Its styling included features such as ridges in the doors and exposed hinges and bolts, designed to make the car appear rugged and simple, in the vein of military vehicles, an idea since used on cars such as the Rover Streetwise, Citroën C3 XTR and Volkswagen CrossPolo. It was available with a naturally aspirated or turbocharged 658 cc petrol engine paired with front- or four-wheel drive, and the rear seat was designed to be easily removed.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
