The Daihatsu Ayla is a city car designed by Daihatsu and manufactured by Astra Daihatsu Motor in Indonesia since 2013, primarily for emerging markets, also sold by Toyota as the Agya (Indonesia, South Africa, Tunisia and the Americas bar North America) and the Wigo (the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Vietnam), and reengineered and built in Malaysia by Perodua as the Axia. The first-generation Ayla and Agya were unveiled at the 20th Indonesia International Motor Show in September 2012 and went on sale in September 2013 — a year later, as the government's ratification of its Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) tax-exemption program was delayed, a program that requires an Indonesian-inspired name (Ayla is Sanskrit for "light", Agya means "fast") and badge. Early models used only the 998 cc 1KR-DE three-cylinder (48 kW / 64 hp); the 7 April 2017 facelift (led by chief engineer Nobuhiko Ono) brought redesigned fascias, better interior quality and the 998 cc 1KR-VE VVT-i three-cylinder (Agya only, 50 kW / 67 hp) and the 1.2-litre 3NR-VE four-cylinder with Dual VVT-i (65 kW / 87 hp, B101). A second facelift followed on 19 March 2020 for the 1.2-litre Ayla and the Indonesian Agya; the Agya TRD S was renamed GR Sport on 9 August 2021 and the 1.0-litre Agya dropped in November 2021. The Toyota Wigo arrived in the Philippines in 2014. Designed by Mark Widjaja, Nobuhiko Ono and Jirou Matsueda on the Daihatsu Global A-Segment Platform (related to the Perodua Bezza and Daihatsu Sigra), 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic; wheelbase 2,450–2,455 mm, length 3,600–3,700 mm, width 1,600–1,620 mm, height 1,520 mm, kerb weight 730–880 kg. Ayla trim levels ran from 1.0 D to 1.2 R Deluxe; ASEAN NCAP scored the 2012 Ayla adult 5.56 (child 51%) and the 2015 Agya adult 12.84 (child 82%), and over 214,000 Aylas and 278,465 Agyas had been sold in Indonesia by February 2020. Toyota Motor Philippines recalled over 15,000 Wigos in September 2018 for a faulty engine wire.

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.
